Scones are a great breakfast option because they are tasty and filling.

BBC Good Food has a recipe for cheese and bacon scones, and it only takes about 45 minutes to bake. They are delicious when served warm with a little melted butter on top.

The scones can also be saved in the refrigerator for several days, so you can have an easy breakfast to grab all week.

Heat oven to 200 degrees Celsius and grease a 12-hole muffin tin. Fry some bacon in a pan over medium heat. Cook for 5 minutes until slightly crispy, then chop into chunks and set aside.

In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder and 1 teaspoon of salt. Using your fingers, mix in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the milk, oil and egg. Pour the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, and gently mix until the flour is mostly moist. It’s okay if there’s a few lumps.

Stir in the bacon, chives and cheese, then spoon the batter into the muffin tins. Put the tins in the oven and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm with butter.
