Dehumidifiers can be quite a pricey investment, however they’re a cost-effective way to dry clothes, get rid of condensation on windows and remove excess moisture in the home. Amazon is selling a 12L dehumidifier that shoppers are full of praise for, with one buyer stating it’s ‘cheaper than cranking the heating up’ when it comes to drying clothes.
The online giant is selling the energy efficient Meaco MeacoDry ABC Dehumidifier which costs around 3p an hour to run for £169.99. The gadget has low power consumption and optimised energy usage, making it cheap and practical for daily use to keep condensation problems at bay.
The dehumidifier uses considerably less electricity than tumble dryers, as it has a dedicated laundry mode that runs for six hours before switching itself off to save energy and your hard-earned cash. It also has a convenient function where you choose the target humidity level and it will switch itself off when the humidity target is met, only switching back on again when it detects an increase in humidity.
The Meaco MeacoDry ABC Dehumidifier can be used in any room to remove condensation, take the chill out of the air, and prevent damp walls, smells and mould. Over 5,300 Amazon customers have reviewed the ‘quiet and efficient’ gadget to date, with it receiving an overall rating of 4.7 out of five.
One satisfied customer awarded it full marks and commented: “Dries a full load of laundry within six hours. I’ve had this for coming on two years, it’s brilliant for the damp UK winters where it’s impossible to dry anything. Put this in a room on laundry mode and come back to dry, fresh clothes. Cheaper than cranking the heating up.”
“I’m very impressed,” wrote a second happy buyer. “Easy to set up, quiet and it’s doing a great job. We should have bought one years ago. We live in an old house and have damp walls – the machine is delivering 12 litres of water a day and the room smells much better. 100% recommend.”
Someone else added: “The amount of water this machine has pulled out is astronomical. I can honestly say we have not had one drop of condensation since using it. We also have a smart meter and can see that it doesn’t use a lot, despite being on 24/7.
“I am so impressed and extremely glad I bought it. I told my parents about it and they have now bought exactly the same one, for the same reasons. They are also equally impressed and over the moon with the difference it has made.”
A few shoppers, however, commented on the manoeuvrability of the dehumidifier. One person explained: “It has no wheels which makes it less easy to move.”
