The 51-year-old, who has been hosting his show since 2017, made a significant change to his diet to get fit.

He swapped two of his usual three daily meals to include salmon.

Oily fish, such as salmon and sardines, is particularly high in long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, which promote good heart health, according to the NHS.

It suggested that “most of us should have more fish in our diet, including more oily fish”.

James calls upon his culinary skills to keep his salmon consumption varied, mostly by changing the sides he serves it with.

Speaking previously to his fans, James asked: “What could be simpler than pan-frying a little bit of salmon and serving it with some great new potatoes and seasonal veg?”

Before joining ITV, James hosted BBC‘s Saturday Kitchen from 2006 to 2016.

This revelation about his diet comes after the news of his split from his girlfriend of 12 years, Louise Davies.

The celebrity chef and the TV producer started dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

However, James’s weight loss journey started long before his split from Louise.

Back in 2005, the popular TV chef starred in Strictly Come Dancing where a rigorous training schedule and a change to his eating habits resulted in dramatic weight loss.

Nearly 20 years on since James’s weight loss – which saw him shed three stone down from 17 stone – he’s managed to keep it off.

James has maintained his slimmer shape by sticking to a healthier eating plan full of whole foods.

The chef revealed: “I no longer stuff my face with really bad things,” adding that he avoids “Mars bars and fizzy soft drinks”.

Those looking to try James’s approach to healthy eating have plenty of options, with so many different ways to cook salmon.

Air fryer salmon is a great way to avoid fats and oils when cooking, or this creamy thai traybake by Mary Berry includes plenty of vegetables.
