Condensation on windows is a common issue, especially during colder months.
It can lead to dampness and even mould in your home.
But a simple and inexpensive solution might be hiding in your kitchen cupboard.
According to Britain’s “Queen of Clean,” Lynsey Crombie, an old-school trick using a common household staple can help prevent condensation from forming on your windows.
Lynsey’s technique is easy and cost-effective, using washing up liquid to do the trick.
She explained: “Pop a tiny amount [of washing-up liquid] onto a dry microfibre cloth and rub it all over the glass pane.”
The idea is that the washing-up liquid creates an invisible barrier that stops water droplets from forming.
“You won’t get smears as you are using the tiniest amount,” she assured.
She added how this simple tip can be a great alternative to expensive dehumidifiers.
Condensation typically forms when warm indoor air meets a cold window surface, causing moisture buildup.
This can lead to issues like mould, particularly in colder weather when drying clothes indoors raises humidity levels.
Additionally Lynsey also offered advice on how reducing humidity in the first place.
Dry clothes near an open window in a well-ventilated room and slightly open windows when cooking or bathing to release moisture.
