Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke at the UN Security Council, saying that Russia should be “forced” into peace based on the United Nations charter.

He called Russia’s war “insane” and said that Ukraine reportedly has information that Russia plans to target three nuclear plants in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy asked the UN to force Russia into respecting the UN charter — saying “From very first seconds of this war Russia has been doing things that cannot be justified under the UN charter,” such as “killing children” in Ukraine.

“This war cannot simply fade away, it cannot end by talks, action is needed”, Zelenskyy said, calling on the BRICS countries to be part of the peace efforts.

Zelensky is expected to present his full “victory plan” to Biden at the White House on 26th September. He also plans to discuss it with presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

The Ukrainian President has previously only alluded to his plan, saying it would be the “start and foundation” for any future peace negotiations with Russia, as it would outline the terms on which Ukraine is willing to negotiate.

He however also indicated in an interview with “Good Morning America” that he did not believe Russian President Vladimir Putin was currently ready to begin negotiations. The plan also does not include any proposed concessions to Russia.

Zelenskyy had alluded to the plan’s preparation without outlining its specific contents.

The plan was presented during a week-long visit to the US, where Zelenskyy addressed the UN General Assembly in New York and an arms ammunition factory in Pennsylvania.

Zelenskyy will travel to Washington later this week to meet with Biden and presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Trump has previously indicated that he would not provide Ukraine with the same level of support as the Biden administration. Earlier this week in a debate with Harris Trump declined to say whether he wanted Ukraine to win the war or not.
