You’re storing frozen vegetables wrong – easy hack stops them spilling

People have been left stunned by a “life changing” hack for storaging vegetables in the freezer.

It is great to keep our freezers stocked with food; not only does it help you save money by preventing food waste, but it also allows for quick and easy meal preparation. Many of us fill up our freezers with frozen vegetables – they hold up well in the freezing process and can easily be tossed into dishes.

But if you have bags of mixed vegetables, peas, or sweetcorn, often the small vegetable pieces can spill out of an open bag into your freezer drawer. Plus, it can be difficult to pour out of a frozen bag of vegetables without dropping some pieces in the process.

Thankfully, food writer Megan Splawn has shared her simple trick to resolving both these issues – and people have been left totally impressed.

Megan, who boasts over 26,000 followers on Instagram, said she swears by the trick every time she gets out a bag of frozen vegetables. She explained: “If you have a bag of frozen veggies, instead of just ripping it open, if you cut a V shape in it, now you have like a cool little spout to pour it out.”

She added that the bag shape allows you to tie the bag, and stop the vegetables from spilling out. She continued: “Also then you can tie it up. It’s not going to spill all over your freezer.”

People rushed to comment on the hack, as one said: “Well this just changed my life.” “This is an excellent idea,” agreed another.

One other commented: “This kind of content is exactly why the internet should exist. I literally just showed this to everyone in my household so we could all learn together.”

One other added: “Oh my god thank you so much for this, all of my stupid chip clips are on the stupid bags in the stupid freezer and I ain’t even got any for my actual stupid chips.”

Another impressed by the hack, wrote: “Great hack! I always cut straight across and then use that thin top portion that I have cut to use as a string to tie it.”

One other, stunned by the method, commented: “Seeing stuff like this makes me genuinely disappointed in my brain lol. It’s so simple and makes so much sense.”

Another hailed it as “genius”, while another said it is “the best, most random hack internet has ever thrown my way,” commented one other.
