A cardiologist who failed to follow his own advice for a healthy lifestyle has now shared a six-month journey that left him ‘unrecognisable’. Dr Amar Shere, known on TikTok as The Heart Doc, shocked his followers with a video that exposed his pre-transformation physique.

The clip begins with Dr Shere in his bedroom, displaying his significantly larger mid-section. “This was me at the beginning of 2022,” he admitted. “I’m a heart doctor who is guilty of not practising what I preached.”

With frankness, he continued: “I was ashamed. I was overweight, felt depressed and was always fatigued. Every year I set out health and fitness goals, it was the same narrative for the past few years, which tended to fizzle out towards the middle and end. But not this year. No, this year, I went all in and crushed it.”

Laying out the timeline of his transformation, he stated: “In June, I became serious about prioritising my health, and in just six months, I got into the best shape of my life by consistently practising health habits-the same heart-healthy habits I preach about to my patients.”

Dr Shere then detailed the measures he took to achieve his remarkable change, reports Bristol Live. He eliminated processed and junk foods from his diet and committed himself to regular workouts.

“I cut out processed and junk foods,” he declared. “I went to the gym and strength training three times a week. I got in 10,000 steps daily without fail.”

Additionally, he focused on staying hydrated, reducing stress, and ensuring he got sufficient high-quality sleep. “As a result, I was fortunate enough to get booked for my first-ever fitness photo shoot in London, where I am right now.”

He concluded his video by saying: “I can’t wait to share this transformation and more about my journey, and I hope to inspire at least one person on their health journey.”

Viewers have been left in awe of Dr Shere’s tale of transformation. A fan named Marie responded, “It takes a lot to admit this. Thank you for sharing this and your journey. Look forward to seeing the rest of your journey.”

Another admirer said, “Great improvement! !” while Chris confessed, “Great work… I need to start but keep putting it off… same shape as you before.”

Dr Shere has seen his video skyrocket with over 300k views. In the time following, he has been relentless in updating his profile with a myriad of health and fitness videos while maintaining his defined physique.

Embracing dance and a vegan diet, in one clip he discloses his preferred snack for keeping “energised and fueled for the day” amidst his busy schedule – a bag of trail mix brimming with nuts, fruit, and dark chocolate.

Nuts have long been praised for contributing to heart health because they are loaded with beneficial fats, fibre, and essential nutrients. These elements are known to assist in driving down cholesterol levels, reducing inflammation, and supporting overall heart function.

Walnuts, in particular, are often regarded as the top nut for promoting heart health, thanks to their rich supply of omega-3 fatty acids, especially alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). This nutrient can aid in lowering risk factors for heart disease, such as high cholesterol and blood pressure.

Dark chocolate, brimming with disease-fighting antioxidants, has been found to potentially lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease. Enjoyed in moderation, without an overload of sugar and saturated fat, it can be a heart-friendly treat when paired with a balanced diet and regular exercise.

The flavanols present in dark chocolate are believed to help decrease blood pressure, improve blood flow, and lessen the chances of heart disease. However, due to its high calorie and fat content, it’s crucial to savour this sweet delight in moderation.
