Spring is here, and so is a fresh batch of movies on Netflix. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic crime drama, a suspenseful thriller, or an action-packed adventure, April’s lineup has something worth watching. From Hollywood blockbusters to hidden gems, here are the best films arriving on Netflix this month, in chronological order.
The Age of Innocence (1993)
The first film adaptation of Edith Wharton’s novel The Age of Innocence since the 1924 silent film version, this Scorsese piece explores the clash between societal expectations and personal desires in a rigid New York high society. Newland Archer (Daniel Day-Lewis), a lawyer from a respectable family, is engaged to the sweet May (Winona Ryder), but his life is disrupted by the arrival of May’s cousin, the unconventional and beautiful Countess Ellen (Michelle Pfeiffer), who is estranged from her husband.
Big Daddy (1999)
Adam Sandler stars as Sonny Koufax, an irresponsible 32-year-old law school graduate who spends his days avoiding responsibility. When his roommate’s child unexpectedly shows up at his doorstep, Sonny decides to raise the boy himself in an attempt to impress his ex-girlfriend. What starts as a reckless plan quickly turns into an unexpected journey of personal growth. The film blends Sandler’s signature comedy with heartfelt moments, making it a fan favorite. Big Daddy was a box-office hit, grossing over $230 million worldwide and earning Sandler an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance.

The Breakfast Club (1985)
One of the most iconic teen films of all time, The Breakfast Club follows five high school students from different social cliques who are forced to spend a Saturday detention together. Initially, they struggle with their differences – Andrew (Emilio Estevez) is the athlete, Claire (Molly Ringwald) is the princess, Brian (Anthony Michael Hall) is the smart one, Allison (Ally Sheedy) is the outcast, and Bender (Judd Nelson) is the rebel. However, as the day progresses, they form unexpected friendships and challenge the stereotypes that define them. Directed by John Hughes, the film became a defining classic of the 1980s and was inducted into the National Film Registry in 2016 for its cultural significance.
Geostorm (2017)
In this high-octane disaster thriller, Earth’s climate is controlled by an advanced satellite system – until something goes terribly wrong. When a series of extreme weather events begin devastating cities around the world, scientist Jake Lawson (Gerard Butler) is called in to fix the failing technology before a global catastrophe unfolds. Directed by Dean Devlin, Geostorm delivers action-packed sequences, stunning visual effects, and a race against time to save humanity. The film also features an ensemble cast, including Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris, and Andy García.
Heat (1995)
Michael Mann’s Heat is a celebrated piece of crime cinema, featuring an electrifying strategic battle between a career criminal and the detective determined to bring him down. Robert De Niro stars as Neil McCauley, a meticulous and highly skilled thief planning one last heist before retirement, and Al Pacino plays Vincent Hanna, the relentless LAPD detective obsessed with catching him. Their game of cat and mouse unfolds across Los Angeles. The movie is also famous for its iconic diner scene, where De Niro and Pacino share the screen for the first time in their careers. With a stellar supporting cast – including Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, and Ashley Judd – Heat is widely regarded as one of the greatest crime dramas ever made.

Psycho (1960)
Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho is a psychological horror masterpiece that revolutionized the genre forever. The story follows Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), a woman on the run after stealing money, who checks into the eerie Bates Motel. There, she encounters the owners: Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) and his mother. Featuring one of the most famous scenes in cinema history, Psycho remains one of Hitchcock’s most celebrated films. It was nominated for four Academy Awards and is frequently cited as one of the greatest horror films of all time.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
A sequel to 2015’s Sicario, this intense thriller expands on the brutal world of covert operations along the U.S.-Mexico border. When federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) discovers that drug cartels are smuggling terrorists into the United States, he enlists the help of the ruthless assassin Alejandro Gillick (Benicio del Toro) to incite a war between rival gangs. However, the mission takes an unexpected turn when Alejandro forms an unlikely bond with a cartel leader’s young daughter. Directed by Stefano Sollima, the film delivers gripping action sequences and a powerful performance from del Toro.
iHostage (2025)
A new release inspired by true events, iHostage is a tense thriller set in an Apple Store in Amsterdam. When a gunman takes multiple hostages inside the busy establishment, police negotiators face a delicate challenge in de-escalating the crisis. As authorities race to defuse the situation, the film explores the psychological pressure on both hostages and law enforcement.

Bullet Train Explosion (2025)
Bullet Train Explosion is a new intense action thriller set on a Tokyo-bound bullet train that is rigged to explode if its speed drops below 100 kph. As panic spreads among passengers, authorities must devise a plan to neutralize the threat before disaster strikes. Combining elements of suspense and literal high-speed action, Bullet Train Explosion delivers a tense, edge-of-your-seat experience.
UnBroken (2023)
This powerful documentary chronicles the incredible survival story of seven Jewish siblings during the horrors of Nazi Germany. Through firsthand accounts and archival footage, UnBroken explores their resilience, the kindness of strangers who helped them, and the lasting impact of their journey.
Havoc (2025)
In this new gritty action thriller from Gareth Evans (The Raid), Tom Hardy stars as a burned-out detective navigating a corrupt criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s son. As he fights his way through a city riddled with violence, he uncovers a tangled web of conspiracy and betrayal. Known for his fight sequences, Evans brings his intense action style to Havoc, promising a brutal and fast-paced experience.
