A toddler and his cat have gone viral online as hundreds of thousands of people have viewed the antics that involve the pair and his train set.

We all know dogs are man’s best friends who will give anything to get your attention, but sometimes cats don’t quite replicate that feeling. This was beautifully captured in one heartwarming video posted to TikTok by British mum Chelsea on her account dedicated to her pet cat Kingston.

What seems like a perfectly innocent clip of a youngster playing with his new model train set takes a turn when Kingston seems to take a liking to the playset.

What happens next has sent hundreds and thousands of people into barrels of laughter. When the kid makes the move away, the feline jumps into the middle of the train set, claiming it for himself.

Seemingly watching the trains go around and around like he’s the conductor himself, Kingston takes over the responsibility of Thomas the Tank Engine, but may need a few lessons in sharing!

Speaking to Newsweek, Chelsea said: “My son wasn’t very happy to see Kingston claiming the train set as his own, but [he] is learning to accept that more than one person at a time can play with it!”

Kingston’s railway fantasies may have actually proved a valuable lesson in sharing, with the post being captioned “How do you teach a 1-year-old how to share?”

Chelsea added: “The caption is just tongue-in-cheek, as a 1-year-old, my son is still learning how to share, so perhaps this is a good time to teach him to share his toys.”

But the Persian still seems to be the leader of the house, as he needs plenty of attention from his owners and doesn’t like being left alone too much.

In a separate video, posting some facts about the breed, Chelsea added: “They do not handle being left alone for long periods. They need plenty of attention from their owners and can become lonely if they are left alone too often or for more than a few hours at a time.”

According to Chelsea, the breed can also get along with children well, if they are introduced from a young age, but will retreat into their own space if they start to get overwhelmed – or in this case, take over a train set.

In just two days, the video has been viewed more than 800,000 times on TikTok alone, with more than 100,000 likes.

Viewers in the comments have also been going crazy for Kingston, with several taking to the comments suggesting cats have an affinity with miniature trains.

One posted: “Mine claimed a train set as a kitten and it’s still her favourite toy 9 years later, pushes the train cars and everything.”

While another added: “My kitty did the same with my son’s wooden trains & would even push them with his forehead to mimic my son.”
