Customers have been urged to check they’re genuinely securing a deal at TK Maxx by understanding the retailer’s “secret codes”. The fashion and homewares outlet provides designer merchandise at reduced rates.
With more than 450 TK Maxx and Homesense locations nationwide, the chain stocks branded goods “at prices up to 60% less than the RRP”. It’s tempting to rush in thinking you’ve bagged a steal, but there’s a straightforward method to confirm whether you’re truly getting value. This Morning guest and savings specialist Jordon Cox disclosed how customers should examine particular digits on item tags.
He explained: “When looking at product labels, if you see a one on its own, then that product was made specifically for TK Maxx and never sold by that brand.”
Jordon, also known as Couponkid, identified the “magic number” to seek as two. He shared: “Those items are genuine products that were stocked in branded retailers and are now being sold for a bit cheaper here.
“The quality of the number twos will be so much better and those are the true bargains you need to look for.”
A number seven indicates the piece is from a previous season’s inventory, though it remains an authentic branded product.
Jordon advised: “Please do have a check before you buy something. It may seem like a bargain looking at the price, but it may wear out sooner than you think if it’s not the real deal.”
TK Maxx states its buyers “hunt throughout the year for the hottest brand name and designer products”. The retailer added: “We buy from all kinds of vendors – big names and designer labels, top brands, up-and-coming labels and vendors known for stylish fashion and exciting gems.
“We also have some merchandise manufactured for us to bring you exceptional fashion and quality at an amazing price. Our buyers choose many different colours, styles and fabrics so there is always a great choice for you.”
It continued: “Our buyers are opportunistic and entrepreneurial. So when a designer overproduces, or other stores overbuy, we swoop in, negotiate the lowest possible price and pass the savings on.”
TK Maxx outlets receive deliveries throughout the week, with the brand reminding shoppers “when it’s gone, it’s gone.”
Its sister brand, Homesense, specialises in homeware, whilst TK Maxx primarily focuses on fashion.
Customers can peruse items in store, and now online as well. TK Maxx says the retail website is refreshed “almost daily” with new stock.
