Shoppers have raved about a wax jacket they say has earned them many compliments and it is now 60% off. The White Stuff Sloe Cotton Coat has been reduced from £160 to £65 with size UK8 to UK24 available to purchase. With features like a corduroy collar, wax coating and quilted padding, the long coat is perfect for muddy country walks and chic city strolls, whether you wear it with wellies or trainers.
Some shoppers have hailed the White Stuff coat as “better than Barbour” and described the latter one as a “total lint magnet”. At the time of writing, a Barbour Raelynn Wax Jacket comes with a price tag of £329; whereas the White Stuff Sloe Cotton coat now retails at £65. The sale piece has three deep exterior pockets that can easily fit your phone, keys, sunglasses and other essentials.
Measuring at 118cm long, it helps block out the wind to keep you warm should the weather turn chilly at the evening, but there are also snap buttons on the side to vent air out. The sleeves can be rolled up to reveal the brown corduroy cuffs and add contrast to the outfit. Designed in a relaxed fit, some customers decided to go one size down for “a perfect fit”.
“I love this coat. I feel really good in it. Lots of admiring comments. Pockets are good and the zip one is ideal for phone. Bought a size smaller for good fit. Button holes are fraying a bit so may need re-doing,” one shopper said and a second who is “fed up with wearing puffer coat” also commented: “Perfect coat, very on trend. Purchased at a sale price, so very pleased.”
Eight out of nine customers said they would recommend the Sloe Cotton Coat to friends but one noted: “Love this coat but in my opinion it would be better if it had the option to affix a hood. Like that it’s black rather than green, brown or blue like most other wax coats and jackets. I also love that it’s as long as it is as this gives me more protection from the elements when I’m on my disability scooter. Love that it has some padding to help keep the wearer warm.”
Another deducted a star from the review due to the oversize relaxed fit as she wrote: “Lovely waxed coat but sizing is off. I usually take 12 in dresses and a 14 in coats to allow for sweaters and layering. I have purchased a size 10 and still have room to spare. I would have rated 5 but for this as the amount faffing with ordering so many different sizes was awkward.”
Marks and Spencer’s Cotton Rich Waxed Quilted Parka Coat also gives a wax-effect look and this might be a good fit for those who are looking for a shorter style. It is retailed at £79 but sizes are limited.
Crew Clothing has a navy wax jacket available and it is marked down from £149 to £60. You can only get it in some sizes.
