At-home beauty gadgets can be pricey but are often considered as an investment for people looking to save money on trips to salons and clinics, and the best time to purchase such items is when they are on offer.
Amazon’s first Prime Day sale is in full swing tomorrow but with early deals already available, beauty lovers can enjoy an amazing discount on Braun’s IPL Silk-Expert Pro 5, an at-home hair removal set that comes with a travel pouch, precision heads and a Venus razor.
Earlier this year, the haircare brand has launched the world’s first smart IPL (intense pulsed light) called Skin i-Expert, which you can use with an app. But if you don’t need smart features, the Silk-Expert Pro 5 is ideal and you can now buy it for £305 instead of £600 – that’s a 50% saving.
Designed for armpits and lower legs, as well as the face and bikini areas, the white and gold Silk-Expert Pro 5 is safe to use without wearing any protective goggles. It automatically adjusts its power to the user’s skin tone and only flashes when in contact with skin.
Customers should note that the Silk-Expert is not a laser hair removal device but uses ‘Intensed Pulse Light technology’. You can choose between 10 intensity modes, and the machine will fire up to 125 flashes per minute when gliding across your skin.
Shoppers claimed to see visible results in just three weeks, while others said they were left with smooth skin for a year. One compared the device to laser machines she tried previously and shared: “I’ve been using this for around two months now on my legs and underarms and the difference is amazing – I run a razor over them occasionally in the shower (takes about 30 seconds) but there’s almost no need, the hair has pretty much disappeared. I can’t believe how ‘easy’ it has been.
“This is so much quicker and easier to use – it takes me around 20 minutes to do the entirety of both legs and underarms, and that’s at a fairly leisurely pace whilst reading a book.”
A second wrote: “This was a very expensive purchase for me so I was hesitant, however I am very glad I did, I am now at a manageable stage, still the few odd hairs here and there where I’ve rushed it previously or missed a spot however 20 minutes using the machine once a week and I don’t have to shave at all throughout that week and when I do it’s literally to catch the bits I’ve missed.
“It does not hurt it’s a little warm in the more sensitive areas (down below) however you do get used to it. If you are considering it, I would 100% recommend.”
A third was shocked to see her body hair getting finer and thinner after two sessions, adding: “This has honestly changed my life and I couldn’t be happier. Perfect find before my wedding in seven months time where I will be hair free and confident!”
But one woman was “not sure” about the Silk-Expert’s performance and explained: “I’m using the IPL for five weeks and it’s seems that it works on under arms and face but not on legs. The leg hair still coming very thick. I’m not sure if this is gonna work on areas when hair are thicker.”
Competitor Ulike has launched a “campaign exclusive offer” so shoppers can save more when buying the Sapphire Air+ IPL Hair Removal Handset for £189. There are five intensity levels depending on the area you want to focus on and it claims to deliver results in four weeks.
Boots also reduced the Philips flagship IPL Lumea 9000 Series to £489.99, down from £379.99. The machine can be used without a cord and you can enjoy six months of hair reduction after treatments.
