“A massive combined attack targeted all regions of Ukraine,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on X.
Ukraine was hit by a wave of Russian strikes targeting almost all of its regions over Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
Multiple online reports on X, Telegram and other online channels suggest many cities, including Kyiv were attacked.
Sunday’s shelling “was one of the largest air attacks” on Ukraine’s infrastructure since the beginning of the war, foreign minister Andrii Sybiha posted on X.
There were also reports of deaths and injuries, as well as power outages in many cities.
President Zelenskyy posted on X that “Russian terrorists used various types of drones, including Shaheds, as well as cruise, ballistic, and aero-ballistic missiles—Zircons, Iskanders, and Kinzhals. In total, approximately 120 missiles and 90 drones were launched. Our air defence forces destroyed over 140 aerial targets.”
He said that “the enemy’s target was our energy infrastructure across Ukraine. Unfortunately, some facilities sustained damage from direct hits and falling debris.”
“In Mykolaiv, a drone attack killed two people and injured six others, including two children,” Zelenskky added.
“As of now, some areas remain without power, but all necessary forces are working to mitigate the consequences and restore the infrastructure.”
Meanwhile the Operational Command of Poland’s military posted on X that:
“Due to the massive attack by the Russian Federation using cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles on objects located, among others, in western Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft have begun operating in our airspace.”
