No matter how often you may feel like you’re cleaning your home, there’s always a new task that needs doing in order to keep your home nice and clean.

Most people might already have their prefered ways of cleaning, using the cleaning products that works the best for them. But one cleaner has now come out to claim that most people are actually not cleaning the surfaces around their homes efficiently, as she claimed most people forget about one crucial task.

Taking to TikTok, self-proclaimed cleaning queen, Harriet, who is best known under her username ‘cleanslateleics’ to her thousands of followers, often shares her top tips and tricks for how to keep your home sparkling clean.

In one of her most popular videos, which has been viewed over 1.9 million times, Harriet went on to claim that most people might not be cleaning the surfaces around their homes as well as they might think they are.

In the video, she started off by sharing the method most people use when cleaning surfaces around their homes, before sharing the ‘better’ and more efficient method.

“This is not cleaning,” they wrote on the post, which showed the cleaner behind the camera spraying a bathroom cleaning spray around the bathroom sink before promptly wiping it off with a microfibre cloth.

Instead, she went on to claim that people ‘don’t read’ the instructions of their cleaning products, which leave many not using them correctly, which can lead to it not working as well as you might think.

“How many people read the bottle directions of use bfore cleaning?” she wondered in the caption of the post, as she went on to show the ‘correct’ way to clean surfaces around your home.

Cleaning the same sink. the cleaner showed herself using a dish brush to properly get the sink clean, making sure to get into every nook and cranny of the tap and sink to get it clean.

She explained that the cleaning product should be sprayed around the area you want to clean and then left to sit for however long it says on the bottle.

She then went on to scrub the surface with an antibacterial liquid to finish it all off before drying it off.

“This is cleaning,” she claimed, and several people couldn’t help but agree with her.

Several viewers soon took to the comment section to share their thoughts, as some went on to share their opinions on the two cleaning methods.

“No.2 is how you clean on the weekend, no.1 is how you clean after a workday,” one person said, while another wrote: “I’ve learned more from cleantok about proper cleaning practises than anyone who raised me.”

Another person shared: “also many sprays have contact time of 30 seconds to 2 mins and ppl spray and wipe does nothing.”

Someone else explained: “The thing that gets me is when people don’t know they have to use a normal soap first to clean AND THEN disinfectant. The disinfectant won’t work on dirty surfaces please can people learn this.”
