When Princess Kate stepped out for her first appearance after a summer break, her voluminous, light bronde hair caught the world’s attention. Last week, she was seen wearing a special necklace during her visit to the Sudbury Silk Mills and sparked a surge in initial jewellery searches.

Featuring minimalistic pendants of letters G, C and L, the Princess of Wales’ personalised necklace from Daniella Draper is seen as a heartfelt nod to her children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The necklace costs upwards of £355 depending on the number of charms and chain length, but jewellery brand PRYA has similar styles for hundreds of pounds less, with prices starting from £26.

While searches for ‘Kate Middleton initial necklace’ have risen by 50% in the past few days, related terms like ‘small gold initial necklace’ have also seen a sharp rise. Prya’s Mini Bubble Initial Necklace, reduced from £40 to £26, offers a fun and modern style with either a mini curb chain or a rope chain, with no extra cost.

Made with high quality, tarnish-free materials, the necklace is water, sweat and heat resistant. Shoppers can choose from either a 18k gold or silver plating and a bubble-inspired pendant measured at 1.5cm x 1.5cm.

Alternatively, Prya’s Miami Multiple Name Necklace can be customised with up to five names, not initials, in the signature Miami font, crafted in a sleek and modern design. With prices starting at £50, the necklace is available in gold, rose gold or silver.

One shopper left a glowing review and said the Miami necklace is ‘absolutely lush’, adding: “Got this for my daughter and I have to say it is a lush necklace. Well worth the money and would definitely come back for more, thank you.”

Another person bought the initial necklace as a gift and said: “I bought 10 for my bridesmaids and they are absolutely beautiful.” A third customer raved about the quality: “I’ve been wearing it for a couple of days, been in the water with it and no rusting or itching. I am an army girlie so I wear boots and no damage yet, it’s so pretty and shiny, so good quality, it’s great. I love it and my baby does too. Would recommend and shop again.”

For a necklace similar to Princess Kate’s,this Abbott Lyon charm necklace would make an ideal gift. Available at £85, it also has the option of three different chain lengths and there is no extra cost on top of the chain for the charms.

However, one shopper noted that the pendant is ‘much smaller’ than they were expecting. Alternatively, Edge of Ember stock a double initial necklace for £125.

Back to the Prya necklace, one buyer pointed out issues: “The necklace arrived in an elegant packaging and looked beautiful once I had opened it. Then I tried it on and it was so difficult to get the chain part to face up the right way on both sides. Not sure if anyone else had this problem but that was the only let down especially considering the price.”

But a satisfied customer shared: “Over the moon with my necklace, it’s absolutely beautiful! Had so many compliments on it already.”
