A highly praised war thriller featuring Robert Mitchum will be broadcast entirely free of charge later today (Friday, 24th October).
The timeless Hollywood picture debuted in 1957 and remains regarded as one of the finest Second World War dramas decades on.
Mitchum, most famous for suspense films like The Night of the Hunter and Cape Fear, plays the commander of an American destroyer engaged in a deadly battle of wits with a German U-boat.
Also starring legendary actors including Kurt Kreuger and Curd Jürgens, The Enemy Below is essential viewing for enthusiasts of vintage cinema or film lovers who may have overlooked this underappreciated masterpiece.
It will be shown on Film4 today at 1:10pm, following which the picture will be accessible to stream without cost for a limited period on Channel 4, reports the Mirror.
The Enemy Below presently boasts an outstanding 86 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the viewer score climbing even further to 88 percent.
