With Mother’s Day just around the corner, plenty of us are on a mission to find the perfect gift for the mother figure in our lives. Whilst flowers, chocolates and afternoon tea are sure to please many, those on the lookout for something a little more personal may wish to consider a DNA kit, which offers recipients the chance to explore their own story.

For those wondering how it works, MyHeritage offers users the opportunity to explore family origins, uncover ethnic roots, and connect with relatives they may not even know about. Ideal for those who want to give a meaningful present, it’s the gift that keeps on giving long after the roses have wilted.

Currently, MyHeritage is offering its £79 DNA kit for £36 plus shipping, saving shoppers £43 in a better-than-half-price deal. This kit allows Mum to discover her origins across 2,114 regions, whilst also offering the opportunity to find new relatives via shared DNA.

Currently, there’s also a deal live in time for Mother’s Day that includes all of the above, but with the addition of a 30-day complete free trial, which also allows users to uncover their family history and tree, as well as offering access to photo tools and the option to explore a whopping 39 billion historical records.

Elsewhere, those keen to treat their Mum, Stepmum, Auntie or Nan to something a little different this Mother’s Day may wish to check out Ancestry, where there’s over 30% off DNA products. With prices starting from £49 (was £79) plus shipping, there’s various packages available.

Meanwhile at 23andMe there’s a Mother’s Day offer live where shoppers can save up to 55% off kits. The brand’s basic ancestry service is now £88 cut from £89, but there’s bigger savings to be had on the Health + Ancestry service which is now £89, but usually retails for £159.

Plenty of fans have been raving about MyHeritage over on reviews website Trustpilot, where the brand has amassed an impressive overall review score of 4.3 out of five stars, rendering it ‘excellent’ according to the site. One said: “Wonderful to get some results for my mum who was adopted.”
