A pair of Marks and Spencer jeans have got shoppers racing to the high street store thanks to their ‘best’ fit that’s ideal for ‘a small waist’. Costing £30, the Mid Rise Barrel Jeans are touted as the top-selling item on the M&S website due to their ‘flattering fit’ across all body shapes. But we’ve discovered a simple way to get them for more than half price.
The denim bottoms have a popular barrel-leg shape that in the last year have really had a renaissance. Available in sizes six to 24, the jeans come in four different lengths – extra short, short, regular and long – as well as seven colours including ecru, grey, light indigo, mid blue, medium indigo, indigo mix and black.
How to snag the jeans for half price is relatively simple and only requires new customers of M&S to sign up as a member to TopCashback, a UK cashback website.
The brand is curently offering those who register a bonus of £15 when they sign up for free via this link. Shoppers can then purchase the jeans via the TopCashback website as normal and, within seven working days, this bonus and cashback will be credited to shoppers’ TopCashback account.
This means the jeans, after all the deductions, would cost just £14.25. For those who are already established M&S shoppers, it works out as £14.75 post-cashback instead, which is still a good deal.
Barrel jeans are loved by many due to their universally complimentary style, particularly on those with fuller thighs and stomach areas. Uniqlo offers a popular style for those who’d prefer a softer finish with its Jersey Barrel Leg Trousers, which are a lovely alternative to jeans. Costing £34.90, they come in four colours and sizes XXS to XXL. These bottoms have been so beloved that they often sell out rapidly, despite being regularly restocked.
Nobody’s Child also has a brilliant half-price offer on its Blue High Rise Putney Barrel Leg Jeans, slashing them from £75 to £30. However, they don’t provide nearly as extensive sizing options as M&S and they look to be a little slimmer in shape, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The best-selling mid-rise M&S jeans, however, have achieved an impressive average score of 4.6 stars from over 500 customer reviews, with some glowing feedback that proves why they’re a best-seller.
One fan of the jeans described them as the ‘best’, stating: “These are the best M&S jeans (and I have a lot! ). They are true to size, they wash well and don’t loose their shape when wearing. I will definitely be ordering other colours. Love!”
Another, who snapped them up in two shades, noted: “Great fit, flattering, high waist and excellent value for money. Also got the black.”
As for the look of the jeans, someone else hailed: “These fit really well, not too loose but on trend with the cut and very flattering on the bum and tum. They fit me better than a more expensive pair I bought elsewhere.” Although their one gripe is: “Only thing is they are slightly shorter than a standard regular so opt for long length if you want ankle coverage.”
Their fit has also been marvelled at, with one happy shopper sharing: “At last! Jeans that can cope with a small waist and strong bum and thighs. I’m delighted. Bought a pair in black and now thinking about what colour to add to the collection.”
Another echoed this and put the rest the claim that barrel jeans can often appear ‘clown’-like: “Size 14 is 90-91cm across the waist when laid flat. I usually buy size 14 and they are a perfect fit. I have a rounded stomach and large thighs and find the barrel shape so flattering – no hint of clown. Love the cream colour and will wear with a similar coloured jumper. Have not washed them yet.”
Although it wasn’t a perfect match for all, as one person wrote a review in which they expressed disappointment with the waist-height of the jeans, suggesting they’re actually high-rise. They stated: “These have the potential to be the perfect barrel leg jeans if they were actually mid-rise which they are definitely not. I compared to a pair of high-rise jeans from M&S and they are exactly the same.”
That being said, for the most part shoppers have adored these jeans with many bagging them in more than one colour, as showcased in this glowing review: “I absolutely love these jeans, so much that I ordered them in black too. True to size, very flattering and so comfortable”.
