Mop in often-forgotten part of home to banish bad smells

If you come home from a hard day at work and are greeted with an unpleasant odour, then the secret to banishing that grim odour could be lurking in your store cupboard.

TikToker @thegoiworld has shared that if your “house stinks,” and you’re wondering why, it’s time to get the mop out and sort it out once and for all.

She said that mopping your walls is a total “game-changer” and will ensure that your house smells lovely from top to bottom.

“Mopping my walls is essential in my cleaning routine, and this magic mop and bucket wringer set makes it so much easier,” she wrote in the caption.

And for those worried about their paint, she said: “I always squeeze this mop before passing it on the wall to make sure to do not remove the paint”.

“If your house smells like food all the time, and I’m talking like fried food grease, it’s because your walls are dirty,” she explained.

In the clip, she could be seen using a mop to reach all the highest nooks and crannies in each room, ensuring that they were as clean as possible before moving on.

She said that she managed to bag her mop from the TikTok shop, and all you need to do is “fill it up with water and your cleaning solution on one side, flip the mop sideways, stick it in, and it wrings out the dirty mop water”.

Similar can be bought on Amazon for just £10 so you can ensure your walls look as good as new, and your home smells amazing.  Plus, you can choose the scent of the cleaning solution so you can tailor it to your specific tastes.

She then popped the mop back into the bucket after she’d cleaned the wall, saying it was “gross” as the mop was so dirty. While many would assume their walls do not need cleaning, according to The Spruce: “They can become coated with dust, grease splatters, smoke, insect droppings, and spider webs, with areas near doors, light switches, and furniture taking the most abuse”.

“Look at how gross this water is from just my walls,” she reiterated as the water seeped back into the bucket from the mop.

She said you need to “grab yourself one right now,” and at the time the video was shared, they were “on sale,” so it’s worth keeping your eye on the price if you prefer to use TikTok shop.

In the comments, someone wrote: “Washed my walls for years now, old school, 60’s child.” Another clarified: “Only if you are using silk paint. If you do this with matte paint on your wall, the paint will just come off.”

“Girrrl, some days I don’t have time to brush my hair! Now you’re telling me I need to wash my walls?!”, a stressed TikToker joked.

If you do opt to mop your walls, ensure that it will not stain your paint. If you don’t know what the walls have been painted with, try a tiny bit of wall, and see how it dries before doing the whole thing.
