Sean Connery is known for his incredible acting – and this hit film is no exception. Gangster films are hugely popular and this gripping, action-packed film is more than worth a watch.

The Untouchables (1987) has gained an impressive score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is set during Prohibition and follows the story of Treasury agent Eliot Ness, who sets out to stop ruthless Chicago gangster Al Capone and assembles a small, incorruptible team to help him. One person reviewing the film on the platform said: “The performances are all excellent. Kevin Costner delivers a solid performance, Sean Connery gives one of his best performances.”

Connery is widely praised for his acting in the film. Not only this, but Collider says the film was the reason Kevin Costner was “launched to stardom”.

Another person on Rotten Tomatoes said: “Utterly brilliant from start to finish. A great (fictionalised) story, told well and with great performances, not just from the three A-listers but from everybody – Charles Martin Smith in particular.

“I rewatched this recently, and I’d forgotten how quickly the film races along. You barely get a chance to draw a breath. If they made it now, it would be three hours long, easily, and no better for it. Very refreshing.”

The film keeps people on the edge of their seats with a gripping storyline.

Paramount adapted a popular book of the same name into a TV show in the 50s and 60s. Twenty years later, it decided it wanted to develop it for the big screen.

The Untouchables became one of the most popular gangster films of the 1980s, and it has stood the test of time. New audiences love the film just as much, even decades later.

You can find The Untouchables on Amazon Prime.
