
A woman has been lauded for revealing the ‘life changing’ method she uses to store and prepare her leftover food, which helps eliminate food waste and allows for significant savings, without making you eat the meals for days on end.
Preparing meals in batches is a great way to producing substantial quantities of food with minimum effort, while also delivering long-term financial benefits by reducing the need to purchase ingredients for numerous different dishes. However, this approach can result in consuming the same meal repeatedly over several days to avoid food waste, which many people may find tedious or off-putting.
To address this issue, one woman has revealed the genius technique she employs to store her leftovers, enabling her to cook different meals every single day.
Sarah Hart has established herself as a prominent figure on TikTok, where she educates her 298,400 followers about her meal-preparation strategy, which numerous people have described as life-changing.
In a particular video, she was conversing with a friend when the topic of cooking for one person arose, explaining that her companion was single and resided alone, which had left her feeling uninspired to prepare home-cooked meals each evening.
“And when I explained that I do a lot of freezer cooking and cook freezer meals, I could tell that her definition of freezer meal and my definition of freezer meal were two very different things,” Sarah explained.
She went on to show her friend her freezer inventory of homemade meal elements, which she had cleverly frozen into portion-sized cubes using ‘Souper cubes’, allowing her to select components for future meals.
Her freezer contained large containers marked ‘meat’, ‘veggies’, ‘fruits’, and ‘meals’, all brimming with various meal components she had previously prepared.
“And as soon as she looked inside and saw what I was talking about, it was like a lightbulb went of,” Sarah recalled, explaining how her friend frequently ended up with excessive leftovers when cooking, which she wasn’t keen on consuming over subsequent days.
Consequently, the friend had resorted to purchasing more takeaway foods and fast food to avoid eating identical meals repeatedly, or having to bin the food she had prepared.
However, when she discovered Sarah’s interpretation of freezer meals differed from her notion of enormous lasagnes or casseroles, she was instantly fascinated.
Instead of this, Sarah clarified you can still prepare your preferred dishes, including lasagnes, but then divide each element of the meal into individual servings before subsequently reheating each component when you wish to consume them – enabling you to mix and match the elements for your next meal.
“This means you don’t have to eat the same thing every night, and you don’t have to eat leftovers for five days in a row,” Sarah explained, saying this concept had ‘changed’ her friend’s life.
She penned in the caption of her clip: “Cooking for one certainly takes some getting used to but when you utilise your freezer and batch cooking, it gets easier. Freezer meals aren’t just for large families. You can make them as a single person.”
Thousands of viewers quickly flocked to the comments section beneath Sarah’s video, with many applauding her straightforward yet brilliant culinary approach.
