‘I read over 100 books a year – these are my top bookish accessories’ | Books | Entertainment

Reading is my number one passion, and thanks to the rise of BookTok, it’s officially cool again. But when something becomes ‘cool,’ it becomes so much more than just a hobby; it becomes a lifestyle. And with this comes the fact you need bookish accessories to convey how much you adore reading. This includes owning the most aesthetic Kindle case that screams what your personality is like, bookish clothing, and even phone cases that profess your love for curling up with a good book.

What are my favourite picks, though? To save you trawling the internet desperately, I’ve made a list of my favourite picks. Of course, there are many variations of different products, but these are my personal favourites.

1. A gorgeous Kindle case

Having a Kindle case that suits you is so important. Whether you’re someone who likes to opt for the clear Amazon case and adorn it with bookish stickers (I had one like this for a year) or you prefer to open the flap of your Kindle case like it’s a book, and use a hand strap, it’s completely up to you.

I got my Kindle case from AnuchiStudio on Etsy, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. It has a pattern including so many different ‘stickers’ like bows, cats, seahorses, and so much more. When I showed it to one of my friends, she said: “That’s the most you thing I think I’ve ever seen.”

So I managed to bag it in the sale for around £15, and the store always seems to have some level of deal on, so it’s worth browsing all the different designs. If you like, you can also get it personalised with your name on it. I loved mine so much that I bought my mum a personalised book shop front one for her birthday, and she adores it.

2. A Kindle grip holder

If your Kindle doesn’t have a hand strap at the back of it and you’ve got a plastic cover, you may want to consider investing in a pop socket.

Just like the ones on your phone, they make it so much easier to hold your Kindle one-handed (if you’re the type of person who enjoys cooking and reading at the same time, this is a game-changer) and you can get them in all sorts of designs too.

On Reddit, one book lover wrote: “I enjoy it because it makes my Kindle more comfortable to hold while reading in bed. It also gives some stability if I’m reading out somewhere.”

3. A bookish phone case

Want to wear your book-loving personality on your sleeve? Well, you can, thanks to Burga’s ‘Plot Twister’ phone case. Designed with fantasy book lovers in mind (me included, obv) it comes adorned with a dragon, a half moon, the words ‘fantasy queen,’ and so much more.

This would make a perfect gift for someone you know who can’t get enough of reading, or for yourself. And, what’s more, there’s even a notebook in the exact same design, so if you’re the sort of person who likes to coordinate accessories, this is perfect for you.

Imagine the 10/10 selfies you could take with this as your phone case, ugh.

4. A TBR box or caddy

Inundated with books and don’t know where to start? Try a TBR box or caddy and put all the books you want to read urgently into it. This way, you’ll feel more organised and you’ll be able to choose more easily, rather than gazing pointlessly at 300 books on a bookshelf and having no clue what you’re even in the mood for.

Once you’ve finished books, if you’re not fussed about displaying them, sell on Vinted, or donate them to charity to ensure more people can love and enjoy the book – especially if you’re not a spine creaser!

5. Highlighters and pens

A non-negotiable for book lovers is a pencil case packed full of highlighters and coloured pens if you love to annotate your books. It’s something that I’ve done with non-fiction books for a while, but I’ve recently started doing it with fiction, and it’s so much fun!

You can pick up highlighters and pens from many shops, including supermarkets, and often they retail for under a fiver, which is ideal if you’re on a budget.
