When it comes to household duties, cleaning ranks high on the list of priorities. It’s not often regarded as a pleasurable task, but it can’t be avoided.

Many have their own particular techniques for scrubbing their floors clean – and one woman’s distinctive approach has stirred up quite a bit of chatter online.

In a recent TikTok post, user @KateSi_AdviceMom, who has a following of 130,000, informed her fans “you’re washing the floor wrong”, while showcasing her method which sparked mixed reactions.

The video begins with the woman tossing her mop bucket into a sink. She then proceeds to dump the grimy water over the dishes and crafts a makeshift pipe using a blue pool floatie to transport water from the sink to a mop bucket on the ground.

Adding in baking soda, vinegar, and other cleaning agents to the mix, she stirs the concoction with her hands. The final step sees her soaking a cloth in the blend, attaching it to her mop, and setting about her floor-cleaning routine.

While some of the items she uses could be beneficial for those new to cleaning, several viewers couldn’t resist poking fun at her controversial first action.

With the post amassing over 59,600 likes, criticisms and quips flooded the comment section, with one person writing: “After seeing the dirty water dumped on dishes, I will not be needing any cleaning advice.”

Another chimed in: “This is why I don’t eat at people’s houses.” And a third added their voice: “No trigger! The dirty water, the dishes.”

A fourth then advised: “Always throw the bucket of dirty water into the toilet.” However, not all feedback was negative, as some followers praised her suggestions. One commented: “It’s a great idea, I will try.”

Another concurred: “Great idea!” Yet, some cautioned that baking soda and vinegar negate each other when combined for cleaning.

Baking soda and vinegar are indeed a potent, safe, and environmentally friendly duo for a variety of home chores, including clearing blockages and freshening up your living space.
