At a loss at which cleaning product is most suitable for removing stubborn stains from your sofa?
Lifestyle expert Nataliia (@nataliia.sahm) claims to have found an “interesting” but effective way of going about your business – using a common household product you’re likely to already possess in your cupboards.
Taking to TikTok, she showcased her unusual method in a video leaving her followers excited to try it for themselves. Nataliia’s clip began with her grabbing an all-in-one dishwasher pod and dissolving it in a large bowl of boiling water.
She then stirred it thoroughly with a toothbrush before donning rubber gloves and submerging a microfibre cloth to soak up some of her solution. After giving it a rinse, Nataliia then wrapped the cloth around the glass lid of a saucepan to create a sturdy surface with which to scrub her furniture.
Showing the camera the various stains on her sofa, she soon got to work, rubbing it vigorously and rinsing excess dirt and applying more water when required. The video closed with Nataliia showcasing the fruits of her labour – her sofa appearing as good as new.
“Found this interesting way to clean the sofa, it really works!” she penned in a caption. The clip has been viewed by a staggering 13 million TikTok users, many of whom took to the comments section to offer feedback on Nataliia’s hack.
“No way!” one TikTok user expressed in disbelief. “Omg this is fantastic thanks for sharing.” A second enthused: “And they smell so good after cleaning it.”
A third person hailed: “OMG this is genius.” While a fourth added their own important tip to the technique, warning: “If you have white sofa make sure to use white cloths.”
In response to questions from confused viewers surrounding which dishwasher pod Nataliia used, meanwhile, one person was on hand to reveal: “That’s definitely a Finish Powerball Ultimate pod. The dishwashing pods I use.”
A pack of 50 can be snapped up at Tesco for £11.25 (or £10 for Clubcard holders), meaning the cost of carrying out Nataliia’s trick can be performed for as little as 20p.
