Hellboy The Crooked Man trailer – Terrifying first look at 1950s set horror | Films | Entertainment

After Guillermo Del Toro failed to get his Hellboy 3 starring Ron Perlman green-lit, the franchise was given an R-rated reboot starring David Harbour.

However, 2019’s Hellboy was slammed by the critics and flopped hard before Millennium Media announced another try.

Today fans were given the first look trailer for this year’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man based on the 2008 comic of the same name.

A prequel set in the mid-20th century, the heroic demon working with the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defence is played by Jack Kesy this time around.

Looking at the first trailer and those involved in the project, it looks like Hellboy will be making a lower-budget hard horror approach this time in the hope of box office success.

The film’s official synopsis read: “In the 1950s, Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent, stranded in rural Appalachia, discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man.”

Hellboy: The Crooked Man will release in cinemas at some point in 2024.
