Donald Trump has been doing the podcast rounds as he campains for re-election in less than a month.

And during a recent appearance on Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant with Akaash Singh, the former President spoke of his “tough” Scottish heritage on his mother’s side.

It wasn’t long before the conversation moved onto Mel Gibson’s 1995 historical epic Braveheart; the winner of five Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director.

Trump shared: “I saw Braveheart. I think Mel Gibson is a very good guy, I’ve met him a number of times… that was Super Mel Gibson in his prime.

“And I was on a plane and there was nothing to do. It was one of these planes where you couldn’t make calls and they had tapes.”

Trump continued: “And they showed me, ‘Sir we have 20 tapes’… this was probably six years ago. I never saw Braveheart and they showed me a tape and I said, ‘Alright, let’s put that one on’ and within about four minutes I said, ‘This may be the greatest movie I’ve ever seen! I wish I saw it with my mother.”

He added of Gibson: “His look, his way, you couldn’t have had a better guy playing it. But that was a great movie”

Braveheart is streaming now on Disney+.
