Whether it’s peeing under the Christmas tree or stealing food off of the table, some dog breeds are considered naughtier than others.

In a new opinion survey, where 2,000 pet owners took part, five dog breeds stood out as the naughtiest pooches around.

According to the Pets at Home research, Terriers, including Jack Russells, are one of the most naughtiest dog breeds.

A quarter of owners (25 percent) admitted that their Terrier dog is likely to rip open presents under the Christmas tree in the lead up to the big day.

And Border Terriers are notorious for stealing food from the Christmas dinner when they think no one is looking.

Most surprisingly, almost 87 percent of respondents said their Golden Retriever is likely to be up to festive mischief during the holiday season – as well as Beagles.

And Poodles are the most likely to topple the Christmas tree or get tangled up in tinsel.

  • Beagles
  • Poodles

Naughty activities include breaking baubles, getting wrapped up in lights, stealing the roast Turkey, and biting guests.

Dr Samantha Butler-Davies MRCVS, Veterinary Services Director at Pets at Home, shared her advice to help calm down naughty pooches.

“While us humans may love dangly and edible decorations, they are too tempting and dangerous for our pets,” said Dr Samantha.

This means being mindful when decorating the tree, especially if your pet pooch likes to steal decorations off from the Christmas tree.

As for any presents, they might be better off in a different room where your dog can’t rip them open if left unsupervised.
