Anyone who has used dry shampoo between washes will be familiar with those formulas that leave tell-tale white residue, and locks feeling weighed down.
Color Wow’s newest product, the Insta-Wow Advanced dry shampoo, claims to address common complaints associated with dry shampoos. It promises to leave hair residue-free, and feeling as if it’s just been washed.
Despite its hefty price tag of £26.50, haircare aficionados are impressed by the latest offering from the premium brand, giving the product an average rating of 4.6 stars out of a possible five on the Space NK website, reports the Mirror.
Insta Wow claims to keep hair soft and silky, and includes olive leaf extract to help prevent scalp flaking. The brand says that the formula has been specifically crafted to rebalance the scalp’s microbiome while also helping to normalise excess sebum production.
Other more budget-friendly dry shampoos that shoppers recommend include Arkive’s The Reset dry shampoo, available for £14 at LookFantastic. One reviewer commented: “Only used it for a couple weeks following a recommendation from a hairdresser on TikTok; no white residue and the gorgeous fragrance lasts all day.”
They added: “I use it at least 2-3 times a week and sometimes it has a lot to do as my hair gets quite oily! I’m hoping it’s kinder to my hair than the brand I’ve been using long term.” The Mirror’s Jessica Brunt said she also tried the same product and “love[d] the perfume-like scent”.
Another option is the Colab Supersize Overnight Renew dry shampoo, which is available as a pack of three on Amazon for £12.59 at the time of writing.
It too got positive feedback by Amazon users, with one saying: “I never liked using dry shampoo and if I ever did, I couldn’t see any difference in my hair, barely at all, but when I saw this I thought I’d give it a go. It has a very pleasant and gentle smell and when you get up in the morning and brush your hair, it really does look a whole lot better, good stuff.”
Space NK reviewers have also been praising the Color Wow dry shampoo, with one commenting: “This dry shampoo refreshes my roots without the heavy powdery feel I usually dislike. It’s easy to blend in and gives my hair a light lift that looks natural. I wouldn’t call it a full replacement for a wash, but it works really well to stretch an extra day between shampoos.”
One shopper was less impressed: “It left an intense white cast that made me look like I had aged 40 years or dusted my scalp with flour. And no matter how much I brushed it through or tried to blend it, it clung on like chalk dust”.
Another reviewer disagreed, saying: “I have bangs and a few days after hair wash day, I really need dry shampoo. There’s a lovely fresh scent from the spray and it does not leave a white residue which is a pet peeve of mine! Will definitely re-buy when I run out.”
Yet another glowing review reads: “This is the best dry shampoo I’ve ever tried. So worth paying the extra money. I used to have to wash my hair everyday because of how oily it is but now I can just spray this and it keeps it fresh and not oily so I have to wash my hair every 2-3 days instead, which is incredible.”
