The eagerly anticipated cast for Sam Mendes’ quartet of Beatles biopics has been unveiled, causing a stir among fans.
Harris Dickinson is set to embody John Lennon, Paul Mescal will step into the shoes of Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan will be seen as Ringo Starr, while Joseph Quinn takes on the persona of George Harrison. The director confirmed his ambitious project of four individual films, each dedicated to a single Beatle, is slated to hit the screens in April 2028.
Beatlemania is sure to be reignited with this announcement, but not all Fab Four devotees are thrilled. Some critical voices have surfaced on social media platform X over the chosen lineup of actors.
The casting news exploded online after Pop Base shared a photo of the actors tasked with bringing The Beatles back to life, captioned “The Beatles biopics will star Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan and Joseph Quinn.” The post has racked up an impressive 2.1 million views, 75,000 likes, and almost 1,000 comments in under a day.
One fan lamented: “I’m crying, they look nothing like The Beatles.” Another decried: “They don’t even look like The Beatles at all, oh this is going to flop.”
Voices of doubt continued with another chiming in, saying, “not a single person here remotely looks like any Beatle” and yet another stating, “makeup better be fantastic because this is questionable.” Further skepticism came from a user who remarked, “Four famous men who look nothing like The Beatles star in The Beatles films! ! Okay…”
