In the face of ever-increasing prices, savvy shoppers are on the hunt for strategies to slash their spending, including opting for more budget-friendly alternatives to their usual buys.

Instagram‘s budgeting guru Kat Saves, known for her money-saving hacks, has recently focused her attention on high street staple Boots, offering advice on how to economise while shopping there.

Kat shared some straightforward substitutions you can make at Boots, advising: “This not that in Boots! Save money by shopping smarter and making some really easy swaps.”

She highlighted a simple yet effective tip: purchase razors from the men’s aisle instead of the women’s. She explained: “Bic two blade razors in the women’s section are £2.05 for five, but you can get 10 in the men’s section for only £2.40.”

Additionally, Kat suggests that while it might seem counterintuitive, investing in large refill packs of soap can actually be cost-effective in the long run, reports the Mirror.

She pointed out that buying Carex Liquid Hand Soap individually costs £1.50, equating to 60p per 100ml, whereas the refill bags are priced at £1.90, working out at just 38p per 100ml.

For those gearing up for a getaway, Kat warns against the exorbitant pricing of travel minis, recommending the use of empty mini bottles instead.

She cautions: “I know it says 3 for 2 but it is still not a good deal”, and holding up a miniature shower gel bottle, she adds: “This shower gel on its own literally tiny and is £1.50.

“Instead you can just buy the reusable travel containers and put your usual products in there. Boots have so many different ones.”

Kat also recommends not buying sheet masks, highlighting that since they are single-use, you won’t truly reap the benefits of the ingredients.

Instead, she suggests choosing a serum with the same components, which can be used regularly.

“Single use cotton wool pads are honestly just a money pit,” Kat says, sharing her final money-saving swap, “You can to keep buying them over and over again.

“Instead you could buy one of these reusable face cloths for only 90p.”
