A lightweight layer such as a trench coat or rain mac can be indispensable as the seasons change. Fashion-wise shoppers have found a transitional garment on Boden that is ‘chic’ and ‘perfect’ for a rainy day.

The Hazelnut Brown Cropped Rain Mac from Boden is £139, and also available in navy. Available from sizes 6 through to 22, if shoppers use the code MY7P, the price drops down to £143.65 – saving shoppers 15%.

This rain mac has a relaxed fit, meaning there is room to layer up if needs be, but it also has a quilted lining for additional comfort and warmth. Its front pockets come with flaps, so storage on the go is sorted, and it is fully waterproof, Boden says.

What’s more, the hood will keep any hairdo safe from the elements and it has a zip and popper buttons down the front for easy access. Pantone’s colour of the year is ‘mocha mousse’ so this Hazelnut Brown shade is very on trend, and is a good warmer option for those who want to indulge in the trend.

Shoppers wanting more length can look at New Look’s Stone Double Breasted Trench Coat which is £54.99. Available in three colours – stone, brown and black – this is a double-breasted trench coat with a belted waist and for a pop of something different, when the cuffs are turned up, the checked lining trim can be seen.

If shoppers are looking to turn heads with a statement coat, then River Island’s Green Faux Leather Croc Texture Trench Coat is £99. As its name implies, it is faux leather with a croc texture print, long sleeves and it is belted.

Back at Boden shoppers have shared positive reviews on the cropped rain mac, with one saying: “The coat fits perfectly! I love the colors and the length. It will be perfect for a rainy fall day”. Another said: “I love this raincoat! It’s so chic and looks great both dressed up and dressed down. I bought a size up so that it would fit nicely over sweaters and it fits perfectly.”

A third shopper confessed: “Wasn’t expecting to love this coat as much as I did, felt a little shapeless when I first tried it on but the cuffs and hood are adjustable. Great colour – shame not more colour choices. Perfect for those of us that don’t like to drive in bulky full length coats. Definitely a keeper.”

Some Boden customers had minor feedback with one person saying: “Loved the style and details but the back stuck out so far it looked comical. I am small but I thought a size 6 might work, sadly it didn’t.” Another said: “I agree with another reviewer that it is very large in the back. I’d size down. I’m 5’4″ 135lbs and could think 4 (or even size 2) would have looked better on me. I wore it cycling in the Loire Valley, and it kept the rain out pretty well – although does not provide any warmth, as expected.”
