Aldi and Lidl have both issued urgent food recalls over the past few days, warning customers not to eat the affected items. The Food Standards Agency has issued alerts for two snacks at these two budget retailers, with stores in England, Scotland and Wales affected.
Customers are being warned about these items so it’s vital to check if you’ve got them in the cupboard at home. One is being recalled due to a potential allergen, which could be dangerous for anyone who suffers an intolerance to it. Here’s the latest details from the Food Standards Agency, and what you should do if you’ve purchased either of these snacks.
Lidl Simply Roasted & Salted Cashews
Lidl GB is recalling Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews because the product may contain glass, posing a potential choking hazard and making it unsafe to eat.
The product details are as follows:
Pack size: 125g
Best before: June 28, 2026
If you have bought this product, Lidl’s advice is not to eat it. Instead, return it to the store where you bought it, and you can get a refund.
Aldi Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s
As a precautionary measure, Aldi is recalling Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s because the product may contain peanuts. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.
The product details are as follows:
Pack size: 121g
Best before: All dates
If you’ve bought this product and you have an allergy to peanuts, don’t eat it. Instead, take it to your nearest Aldi store and return it, and you’ll get a full refund.
This comes days after several chocolate bars were recalled from UK stores due to potential ‘health risks’. The FSA revealed that retailer TJ Morris was removing Milka Hazelnut, Milka Whole Nut, and Milka Oreo Brownie chocolates from the shelves due to allergen information not being declared in English on the packaging.
It stated: “This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts) and/or soya, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease. The affected products were sold by TJ Morris at Home Bargains.”
