Parking rows never end well, and when one woman was labelled as a “f**king b***h” in front of her daughter, she was seething and shaken.
She said that the situation she found herself in was “upsetting,” so she needed to “vent” about it, so she took to Mumsnet to explain exactly what had happened.
She said she was trying to park on a “narrow garden square [which has] resident parking on both sides of the road. Usually, the right-hand side of the road leading out of the square is left empty as 99% of the time, residents always find a space on the left-hand side, and it’s so narrow that SUVs and delivery vans struggle a bit.
“At the moment, there are suspensions in place in a part of the square, so every now and then, we have to park on the right-hand side.”
She explained that was what happened when she had an altercation with a man in a Range Rover. The mum shared she was just gathering her things and her daughter when she noticed the car. “He stopped a few metres back, so I approached to ask if he was struggling to get past us,” she explained.
She “offered to move” her car a little bit closer to the fence to make his life easier, despite the fact that this would mean she had to “climb out on the passenger side to exit”. He agreed, and so she moved her car, as promised.
But the bully didn’t give her enough time to actually move her car. She recalled: “I had only just about finished moving my car when he starts squeezing past – there’s a crunch: he drove into my car. He reversed; I climbed out through the passenger door and approached him.
“I said he just drove into me, he said he has a camera that filmed it all, and he didn’t. I replied that it’s good that he filmed it all as it will show the whole sequence of events. He then called me a b***h several times and finished it off with f***ing bitch, all this in front of my daughter.”
The mum explained that she didn’t want things to “escalate” in front of her daughter, so she stayed calm, despite the fact she found the man to be “very hostile”.
“I locked the car and just left to go into my house,” she shared, not wanting things to go any further.
She said that she hadn’t shared details with the man due to the “hostility of the moment,” but the police advised her to speak to her insurance, as being called a “f**king b***h” isn’t cause for intervention.
In the comments, some said that from time to time, you will get called names, but because she’s a “grown-up,” she should be able to let it go. “Did you make a note of his numberplate? You should have been able to report for leaving the site of an accident,” they added.
Someone else penned: “Ultimately it sounds like your parking made it difficult for vehicles to use the road. He shouldn’t have hit your car or name called. Maybe just find somewhere more appropriate to park.”
Others showed more sympathy for the woman, writing: “Sorry that happened to you. The man in question sounded very aggressive, which is really not acceptable behaviour, especially in front of a child. Well done for keeping your cool, and hope it gets sorted!”
Another fumed: “The original poster clearly describes a situation where there is parking on both sides of the road It’s a garden square – I assume that there is no pavement between the fence and the road. She parked in a legitimate parking space next to the fence, and an a**hole drove into her car.”
Later on, she explained that her husband “had a word” with the man, and he was “very unpleasant” and wound his window up and just drove off. She said she hoped that would be the end of it, as her car only had a “scratch on”.
