
A cut-price supermarket Easter chocolate costing just £1.50 has been crowned better than a popular Cadbury treat in a major taste test. Experts sampled more than 100 Easter eggs and chocolate treats before compiling their rankings, and one budget option from Tesco came out on top for value.
The Tesco Easter Milk Chocolate Bunny (100g) scored 78 out of 100, narrowly beating the Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Easter Hollow Bunny, which received 77 out of 100. At just £1.50, the Tesco treat is also significantly cheaper than the Cadbury version, which typically retails for around £3.75 for a 90g bunny.
Judges from the Good Housekeeping Institute praised the supermarket option as a strong alternative to the famous brand.
They said: “Tesco’s supermarket bunny is a great value alternative to the more well-known branded buy, with a very similar creamy flavour.
“It’s sure to be a hit with kids.”
The Cadbury bunny was still highly rated by the panel, who described its chocolate as a classic Easter taste.
“Another slightly smaller option that’s perfect for kids, Cadbury’s nostalgic milk chocolate proved unbeatable for some,” testers said.

“Creamy, sweet and unmistakably familiar, it delivers the ultimate taste of Easter.
“As one panellist put it, ‘This is exactly how an Easter egg should be.’”
The testing panel sampled more than 100 different Easter eggs and chocolate products as part of the annual Good Housekeeping taste awards.
Tesco also picked up another win in the rankings with its Tesco Finest Double Layer Salted Pretzel Chocolate Egg, which costs £14 and was named Best Supermarket Milk Chocolate Easter Egg.
With Easter approaching, supermarkets and chocolate brands are competing to win over shoppers looking for treats that balance taste and value.
The results suggest that this year, some of the best Easter chocolates on the shelves might not be the most expensive ones.
