Searching for your next picturesque walking route? It’s well established that venturing outdoors can deliver numerous health advantages, while elevating your general wellbeing.
If you’re keen on a riverside stroll along the Thames with several opportunities for refreshments en route, look no further. This magnificent walk provides spectacular views, not forgetting a chance to enjoy delectable pastries and coffee.
The route commences in Kingston and concludes at Teddington, London. The remarkable aspect is that you don’t “feel like you’re in London”.
TikTok user @jazlifts showcased the celebrated route, beginning at Kingston Market Place and finishing at Teddington High Street.
Allow yourself an hour for this picturesque ramble, plus additional time for coffee breaks.
She said: “If you love riverside views, pastries and a chill stroll, then you need to save this walk for the weekend.
“This walks starts in Kingston Market Place, you’ve got the head over to Zega and grab a coffee or matcha. They also have these delicious buns.
“Or head across to the market store opposite and grab a pastry from Olivier’s Bakery. Once you’ve got your goods, you’re gonna head across the marketplace and through this little alley that’s gonna take you through to the river and down to Kingston Bridge.
“Head right and walk down the Thames path under the bridge.”
The content creator then shared a “fun fact” where you’ll spot three sections of the bridge where it’s been widened on two different points.
She continued: “Soon you reach Canbury Gardens, this might be my favourite section of the walk. It is so gorgeous and the houses opposite are honestly insane. The swans and ducks are often on the path too, so do be careful there.”
Then she demonstrates how the pathway divides in two, recommending the upper route on the right during wet weather. Eventually you’ll reach Teddington Lock, where you cross the bridge and continue straight ahead towards the high street.
The content creator suggested you’ll discover excellent coffee houses, lunch venues and charity shops to “mooch around in”.
In her caption, she recommends Zega and Olivier’s Bakery in Kingston Market. Upon reaching Teddington, Parsnips offers a “perfect” relaxed lunch option for toasties and crepes.
Meanwhile Benedict Teddington provides an excellent choice for a proper sit-down lunch or brunch.
