Resident sick of neighbours leaving dog poo, takes action

There’s nothing worse than living in an area with a communal garden when your neighbours have no respect for others using it.

No matter how they’re making a nuisance of themselves, it’s completely unacceptable. But this is especially annoying when they’re allowing their dogs to foul and not cleaning it up after.

So in a bid to help others, a resident shared a petty act of revenge their neighbour got recently. They live in a block of flats and recently noticed how angry locals were tackling dog fouling.

Sharing the genius move on Reddit,, they wrote: “Posting because I saw it while taking my dog out tonight and it made me giggle because I think I know who put this sign up.”

The sign was sticking straight up by the pile of mess. Its message was simple, to draw attention to the excrement with the words “dog poop” so no one would step in it.

Hopefully, the passive aggressive action would also shame inconsiderate dog owners into cleaning up after their pets.

However, one Redditor was less than impressed with the person who made the flag. They pointed out it would have taken less time to clear up the mess themselves.

They fumed: “Obviously, it’s very inconsiderate and hazardous not to pick up after your dog.

“But I do feel like in the time that it takes to make a poop flag, a person could take one for the team and just clean it up themselves? The disposal bin with the doggy bags was a few steps away, after all.

“I’m pretty sure it’s my neighbour who put up the poop sign. We had gotten into some friendly chitchat by the mailboxes one day when all of a sudden she said, ‘Oh! I got that big pile of dog poop by our building taken care of’.

“Genuinely not knowing what she was talking about, I said, ‘a… pile of dog poop?’ And she goes ‘yeah! There was a HUGE pile of poop sitting in the grass right next to your window for a while. But don’t worry, I put in a report and they sent someone down to take care of it.”

However, people defended the resident who made the anti dog-poo flag.

One person wrote: “People not cleaning up after their dogs was the bane of my existence as an apartment manager.”

A second raged: “It makes sense to me now why so many apartment complexes won’t accept tenants with large dogs, or with dogs in general. There are just so many lazy/neglectful dog owners out there ruining it for the rest of us.”

Meanwhile, a third said: “I love dogs, I hate lazy dog owners. This is so gross.”
