There’s nothing quite like the heartbreak of one of your favourite shops closing, and we’ve lost a few from the high street in recent years. From Woolworths to Debenhams, several major shop closures have taken place in recent times but, while a host have disappeared from the high street, some still appear online for shoppers to browse.

Back in 2021, one of my favourite shops closed its doors after going into administration the year before. Having spent my teens and early adulthood browsing the store’s aisles, I can still see the racks of clothes laid out effortlessly and smell the fresh fabric even half a decade down the line.

Perhaps that’s why I’m so thrilled that it’s opened its doors again. Well, at least in some form, as it’s recently been confirmed it’s arrived at John Lewis.

I was devastated when Topshop vanished, as it had been a go-to fashion retailer of mine for years. The brand arguably helped shape my fashion choices and encouraged me to experiment with all sorts of different looks when I was growing up.

Recently, it was announced Topshop ranges will now be stocked in all 32 John Lewis branches, while Topman will also appear in seven locations. The rollout includes roughly 130 of the brand’s most sought-after items, led by its well-known denim lines.

Online shoppers will also be thrilled to know Topshop is now available on the John Lewis website too, and you only need to take a quick look to be rapidly immersed in nostalgia.

When you glance at what’s on offer, it really is like stepping back in time. The pastel shades, the effortless designs, the casual yet super chic knitwear – there’s just so much to love about the clothes.

While we may never see the flagship store on London’s Oxford Street again, it at least offers a glimpse of what once was, and it could just help many of us to fill the gap that’s been in our wardrobes for years.

It takes me back to heading to my local Topshop, rummaging through every rack, until I could find something I knew would make a great addition to my fashion collection. Even the iconic denim range is back, and it’s enough to make anyone feel excited.

For those who didn’t grow up with the brand in their lives, prepare yourselves, as your shopping habits may be about to change. Topshop appears to be back with a bang.

Another good benefit of Topshop, in my opinion, is the price range was always pretty good, and this appears to be reflected again in what’s available today. While you wouldn’t call it budget shopping, items are also not overly priced.

You can feel confident and stylish at a reasonable budget, as the prices are pretty mid-range. You’ll always find the odd piece that’s a bit more of an investment, but that’s to be expected with more elaborate garments.

It’s clear I’m not the only person who’s thrilled by the news either, as social media has also been packed with people declaring their excitement. One thing that always gets people in a good mood is the thought of shopping.

One person wrote: “Ahhh I love this! HOW EXCITING.” Another added: “Pure happiness when knowing this great news.”

A third replied: “OMG. Screaming, crying, throwing up.” Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “Yes! Back in real life. Love this.”
