We’re at the start of a fresh new year and one of your resolutions may be to get things around your home a bit tidier.

However, one cleaner has shared that there are five things in your home that can make it stink if you don’t keep on top of them.

Doctor Dust Cleaning, known as @doctordust.uk on Instagram, often shares his tips with his 41,500 followers.

In one of his latest reels, he shared the five things you must always make sure are clean for a fresh-smelling house.

Check out his suggestions about which chores to do to make sure you have a fresh-smelling home below.

First up were your bins. The cleaner said you should make sure to deep clean them once in a while and disinfect them often.

He also gave a professional tip: to use Zoflora liquid and some bottoms pads and place them at the bottom of your bin for a ‘long-lasting smell’.

Second was your drains and sink. The professional recommended adding baking soda and vinegar to unclog your drain.

He said: “Let it sit for around 10-15 minutes, then flush down with boiling water.

His added pro tip was to use CIF to degrease the sink once done and also use a steam cleaner to ‘sanitise your sink’.

Next up is your dishwasher filter, which the cleaner says ‘will change the way your home smells’.

He added: “Just because it looks clean, doesn’t mean it actually is. I’d always recommend cleaning your dishwashers every 2-3 months.

The expert said: “Bedding should be cleaning regularly guys, if not then it can give off a really bad smell, especially if you have any pets.”

He recommended cleaning it every 1-2 weeks to ‘avoid any sort of bad odours’.

Last up, the cleaner said you should wipe down soft furnishings with a steam cleaner as it ‘keeps them fresher for long’.

He also suggested using a lint roller before steaming for a better result.

Fans were loving the post, with it racking up more than 40,000 likes.

One exclaimed: “Ooh love Zoflora. I have to stock up when I visit from the states. Great tips.”

While another added: “Love this super helpful and good content overall.”

A third quipped: “Can you come live with me?”
