Royal Mail has announced that at least 25 postcodes expecting deliveries may be affected by delays due to high levels of sick absence and resourcing issues in a number of local offices. They said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We will regularly update customers on the offices most impacted.”
Other areas could also be affected today after a Royal Mail vehicle “was delayed on route on Sunday”. As a result, the mail may arrive later than expected in certain locations, including Leeds, Sheffield, Greenford, Birmingham and Bristol.
In some mail centres, not all mail was processed to schedule over the weekend, and some UK postcodes may also experience delays.
The affected locations include Chelmsford Mail Centre (mail posted in the CM, CO, SS and IP postcode), Nottingham Mail Centre (mail posted in the DE and NG postcode), and the Jubilee Mail Centre (mail posted in the GU, KT, SW and TW postcodes).
