If your heart is set on an outdoor tree, then Lidl’s Large Nordman Fir Cut Christmas Tree is an appealing £19.99. The supermarket said: “This British Christmas tree has been hand pruned to nurture a full bushy shape, it boasts soft but strong needles, ideal for decorating.”

Lidl advised: “To get the best from this tree, saw approx. 5cm off the base of the trunk and place the tree in a water holding stand. The tree will drink water, just like cut flowers, so keep the water topped up daily.”

Morrisons

Over at Morrisons, a 6ft (180cm) tree will cost you a penny more than at rivals, Tesco. For £20, we suggest the simply-named Morrisons 6ft Christmas Tree. “Celebrate Christmas with this 180cm green pine tree, this tree will create a warm and festive atmosphere to your home,” the supermarket said.

Sainsbury’s

At Sainsbury’s, the Habitat 6ft Imperial Christmas Tree boasts an impressive 4.3 star rating from more than 2,200 reviews. Available to purchase via partner store, Argos, this tree represents excellent value for money at £22.
