As the festive period approaches, Christmas films and classics make ideal television viewing, and ‘one of the finest’ is broadcasting on Channel 5 today.
Rescuing Christmas, which debuted in 2023, has rapidly established itself as a seasonal favourite and represents the perfect cinematic selection to embrace the holiday mood.
Featuring Rachael Leigh Cook, Sam Page and Bailey Stender, this romantic comedy has been captivating audiences.
Audiences can follow Christmas sceptic Erin (portrayed by Rachel Leigh Cook) who desires Christmas would vanish, yet in a festive twist finds herself astounded to awaken in a world devoid of it.
As she frantically works to bring it back, she discovers the genuine essence of the season and learns to embrace the festive celebrations, reports the Mirror.
Despite being available for merely two years, this hasn’t prevented it from receiving considerable acclaim as a holiday film option, with supporters on Rotten Tomatoes awarding it a remarkable 73% score.
One enthusiast’s review stated, “This is one of Hallmark’s best Christmas movies to date. The cast, script, production values and – the story – are as good as it gets.
“As a movie reviewer for the SAG/AFTRA awards, I see almost every movie made, as well as every Hallmark Christmas movie, every year.
“While some are tedious and remakes of any number of commonly-themed holiday films, this one is different and extremely pleasing. If you can, give it a view.”
Another posted: “Its a perfect cute little christmas movie. I dont often (ever) watch Hallmark movies, but this is done really well. Its set in my home state of Minnesota with alot of local talent like Kathryn Fumie. A great addition to any family’s holiday movie list.
“Home of Bentleyville “Tour of Lights” (the largest holiday lighting display in Minnesota), Duluth, MN is the perfect setting for this brilliantly directed Christmas movie. The cast was incredible, especially the characters Erin, Sam, Debbie, Chuck, the Mayor and of course Santa! !” said a third.
“A fun, catchy Hallmark movie made for the entire family that is sure to be a Holiday classic.”
Over on Reddit the acclaim carried on as one viewer wrote: “It was a fun one for sure. Plus I’m originally from Duluth, MN where it was set, so it was fun to see all the local businesses and the Bentlyville light show.”
Another shared: “I watched this for the first time this year and I think I’ve enjoyed it more than any of the 2024 releases.”
