We’ve all heard tales of luck and superstitions that we follow in the hopes of finding it or avoiding bad luck, but have you ever spotted a white feather and wondered if it meant something?

According to celebrity psychic and real-life witch Inbaal Honigman, there is much more than meets the eye. While for a long time they have been thought to be a sign associated with angels, or even losing a loved one, the witch has something new to bring to the table.

The most common sign people believe in when they spot a white  feather out of the blue is it is a sign from a recently passed loved one. It’s thought to act as a way of them saying a thoughtful ‘hello’ from beyond the grave, but many haven’t considered her guardian angel theory.

Inbaal suggests there are many historical beliefs that surround these rarer feathers and notes exactly how to uncover their messages.  Speaking to tarot reading platform Tarotoo, she said: “In modern times, there’s a lot of excitement around finding a white feather, especially unexpectedly. It is thought of as a message from the angels.”

The expert explained an unexpected sighting of a white feather can often be seen as evidence that angels are close by. She suggests finding a white feather can be a form of “confirmation” from the angels the finder has made a recent right decision.

Although this phenomenon is largely rooted in ancient beliefs and practices, as birds have been seen as mystical creatures across a whole range of different cultures. Inbaal shared: “In Chinese tradition, a crane symbolises longevity, a magpie happiness, and the mandarin duck, love. In Native American culture, birds represent spirituality and power.”

The witch further explains the theories for different birds, suggesting that eagles symbolise strength, owls wisdom and ravens represent creation. Across these varying cultures, feathers often feature heavily in the likes of art, dance and even ceremonies.

This is because birds are commonly viewed as a form of messenger between the physical and spiritual worlds. She said: “In Estonian folklore, they symbolise the soul, while Judaic lore sees the dove as a sign of peace and hope. Even today, feathers remain powerful symbols of spiritual guidance and growth.”

With this in mind, she believes that when you’re met with a mysterious white feather, it is “certainly a spiritual message”. No matter what your belief system, it is almost always a positive sign, and something in the universe is presenting itself forward, just for you, to shed positive light.

Inbaal says: “If you’ve been mulling over a decision, and you’re starting to favour one option, the white feather says to you that your opinion is right.

“If you’ve prayed for something to happen, this very special find tells you that your prayers are being heard. Finding a white feather unexpectedly has no negative aspects, only positive meanings.”
