Netflix has just unveiled a new trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which is being released initially in select cinemas on November 26.

Netflix viewers will be able to watch the film from December 12, and it has been hailed “the darkest chapter of Rian Johnson’s murder mystery opus”.

The streamer teased: “When young priest Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor) is sent to assist charismatic firebrand Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin), it’s clear that all is not well in the pews.

“Wicks’s modest-but-devoted flock includes devout church lady Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), circumspect groundskeeper Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church), tightly-wound lawyer Vera Draven, Esq. (Kerry Washington), aspiring politician Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack), town doctor Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner), best-selling author Lee Ross (Andrew Scott), and concert cellist Simone Vivane (Cailee Spaeny).

“After a sudden and seemingly impossible murder rocks the town, the lack of an obvious suspect prompts local police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) to join forces with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to unravel a mystery that defies all logic.”

The trailer, which has already garnered more than 14,000 views in under an hour, reveals how the film has already received five stars from top critics ahead of its release.

It shows Mila Kunis as a police officer investigating Jud Duplenticy as the main suspect in a murder case, and he is desperate to prove his innocence.

Benoit Blanc admits it is one of the hardest cases he has ever been tasked with solving.

The trailer is full of funny moments, including one involving Glenn Close’s character Martha Delacroix and a misunderstanding over some unfortunate grafitti.

Collider hailed the film “a brilliant murder mystery”, with Film Stage saying it is “impossible to predict”.

Fans took to the trailer comments to share their thoughts, with @nekonebitan2912 sharing: “Give me 10 more of these, I’ll never get tired of them!”

@loopstationyt added: “The cast alone is legendary! I don’t need a plot, just hook this straight up to an IV drip.”

@theboy_withthe_smile commented: “I love these movies i can’t wait to see Benoit Blanc again!!”

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will be released in cinemas on November 26. The film will then be released on Netflix on December 12.
