Husband left with cat ‘he doesn’t like’ but pics say it all

Anyone familiar with feline behaviour knows that cats often have a preferred human companion. This is the fortunate individual they happily cuddle up to and receive chin scratches from, without any fuss.

However, in the absence of their favourite human, they may temporarily form alliances with other household members. But these individuals shouldn’t get too comfortable, as the dynamic will likely shift once their preferred human returns.

In a similar vein, some people claim that they’re not too fond of cats. Yet, when left alone, they’ll gladly accept affection from the family feline, because who could say no to those big eyes?

This was precisely the case for one woman and her husband.

Sharing her story on Reddit‘s ‘Aww’ forum, an anonymous user posted: “My husband insists he doesn’t like cats, as he sends me a pic of him cradling Jonesy as he falls asleep while being held”.

The first photo showed Jonesy, the stunning ginger cat, sporting a slightly mischievous expression. Adorably, he seemed to be revelling in his own cuteness.

In the second image, Jonesy was seen gazing affectionately at the woman’s husband, clearly enjoying his company.

Jonesy appeared somewhat puzzled by the situation – but he was nonetheless basking in the attention.

However, by the final picture, it was evident that a close bond had been formed between the pair.

Jonesy was comfortably nestled against the woman’s husband, who wore a slight smirk, perhaps wondering if he had become the new favourite member of the household.

In the comments, one individual explained their belief that cats can sense when you’re not a cat person.

They shared: “As a husband who did not want a cat, but caved to surprise his wife, these little monsters absolutely know when you are not a cat person and make it their personal mission to break that.

“She started by sleeping between us before slowly kicking our dogs off of my side of the bed. I am 100% a devoted cat dad now, and might take the majority of the blame for why she is absolutely spoiled rotten”.

Another chimed in: “The funniest thing is that the behaviour that initially calms cats the most at and builds trust is exactly what most casually non-cat people do, which is to ignore them and give them space.”

They added: “You probably did everything right to make that cat adore you.”

Meanwhile, a further commenter humorously added: “Yeah, you can tell he really hates cats. It’s very obvious. I always hold the cats I hate..”

The original poster retorted: “And take close up pics of you holding them like a baby”.

Others suggested that this is a “tale as old as time” and everyone ends up loving the pet they claim they don’t want or like.

One thing’s for sure, we wouldn’t be able to resist that cute face either!
