Cleaning our homes can be a mammoth and time-consuming task so finding simple ways to make it easier could always help. As many of us enjoy sitting on our sofas to relax, they can often get dirty quickly – from food and drink stains to pet marks, makeup and general dirt and dust. While a vacuum can help pick up the crumbs, pesky stains need a different method.
These stains can often be removed using household cleaning solutions, though the specific method depends on the stain type and the sofa’s fabric.
A US mum, who loves finding cheap and easy cleaning hacks, shared her trick for getting “years worth” of dirt off her sofa. Guncha Eyeberdiyeva, who boasts over 10,000 followers on Instagram, insists: “Your vacuum can’t do this with your couch.”
In a post, she showed how using hot water and dishwasher tablet can leave your sofa fresh and clean.
She used a knife to break about the Fairy dishwasher tablet and emptied the contents into a bowl of hot water. She stirred the mix until the powder dissolved.
Next, she dipped a cloth into the mix. Once soaked, she twisted the cloth to rinse out excess water to stop it dripping on the sofa. She wrapped the cloth around the pan and tidied it in a knot at the hood of the pan.
Then she rubbed her manufactured tool across her sofa repeatedly and she was wowed by how much dirt came off.
Ensure you test the solution on an inconspicuous area of the sofa first to ensure it does not damage the fabric.
“It really works,” said one who commented on the trick. “Very simple but super effective trick,” wrote another.
“Can’t wait to give this a go,” added one other. “Great idea, thanks for sharing,” said another.
“Amazing used it on my carpet,” said another.
One other offered a suggestion and said: “Vinegar and dish soap works too with water.”
