Dressing for the weather when the temperature is stuck between the high teens and low twenties can be tricky. Shoppers are looking for the ‘perfect’ mid-layer that can be worn over thin tops, and Boden’s Clerkenwell Borg Gilet seems to fit the bill.
The bodywarmer was a bestseller last year, and it was seen on Harriet Sperling, Peter Phillips’s fiancée, when she attended the Defender Burghley Horse Trials in Peterborough last year. This year, the Clerkenwell gilet is back in stock with a new feature – it’s reversible, with fuzzy borg on one side and warm corduroy on the other.
Available in three colours and patterns, the gilet normally retails at £129. But Boden is giving shoppers a 15% off on all new styles so it is reduced to £109.65 when using code ‘MY7P‘ at checkout.
The Hazelnut Brown and Natural style is similar to Harriet’s Borg Gilet from last year, and animal print lovers can consider the navy corduroy with leopard print borg for a bold look. For softer hues, the Clerkenwell gilet is also available in ‘Light Pink and Natural’.
The reversible plush vest is completed with tortoise shell buttons and pockets. It certainly caught the eye of fashion fans as the retailer labelled the piece as “selling like hot cakes”. Customers can pick the Clerkenwell reversible gilet between UK4 and UK22.
For a similar style, White Stuff’s loose-fitted Borg Gilet is currently on sale and reduced to £40 from £69. The oversized silhouette gives room for the wearer to style it with a chunky sweater. M&S’ Borg Button Through Gilet, £46, is designed in a regular fit, with a collarless neckline to create a pared-back, understated look.
For more style inspiration with the Boden Clerkenwell Reversible Gilet, shoppers can copy Harriet’s look and matched the vest with a pink Boho dress and white trainers.
A customer was so happy with the gilet she also purchased one in Navy and Leopard Print. She detailed: “I ordered this in the brown colour way and I am delighted with it. So delighted that I have now ordered the navy colour way which has just appeared on the site.
As always with Boden, the quality is excellent and the waistcoat is truly fully reversible with pockets on both sides.” But there’s a minor complaint regarding the buttons.
She said: “The buttons are very difficult to do up and undo – it would have been easier if the button holes were just a fraction longer. Maybe, though, that’s my ageing, slightly arthritic, fingers. That said, I know the waistcoats will be so useful and although pricey, I will get great wear from them.”
