Royal Mail issues service update as 20 postcodes face delays

Royal Mail manages an air, rail, and road network to ensure mail and parcels are transported between distribution hubs and processing centres across the UK. The postal service generally makes one delivery round per day, six days a week (Monday to Saturday), delivering letters and parcels together. But customers expecting deliveries today in some parts of the UK may face delays.

In its latest service update, Royal Mail stated that not all mail was processed or dispatched to schedule over the past 24 hours at its South Midlands Mail Centre. The service noted that some mail posted in parts of the CV, LE, MK, and NN postcode areas, due for delivery across other parts of the UK, may arrive later than planned. Further disruption has been reported in certain delivery offices, too.

Local issues such as high sick absence levels, resourcing, or other local factors are affecting dozens of delivery offices today.

Royal Mail warned that when this happens, deliveries are rotated to minimise the delay to individual customers.

The service said: “We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers normally receive.”

Dozens of local delivery offices are currently impacted by local factors, including:

  • Barry DO (CF62, CF63)
  • Bicester DO (OX25, OX26, and OX27)
  • Heathfield DO (TN21)
  • Newton Le Willows DO (WA3, WA12)
  • Oxford DO (OX1, OX2)
  • Sandbach DO (CW11)
  • Uckfield DO (TN20, TN22)
  • Waterlooville DO (PO7, PO8)
  • Whetstone DO (N20)

Despite some delays, Royal Mail claimed that its air and road network services operated according to schedule over the past 24 hours.
