Princess Kate is renowned for her penchant for designer labels, with recent favourites for official engagements including Alexander McQueen and Alessandra Rich. However, she is no stranger to ‘high-low dressing’ when it comes to fashion, with Boden being a long-standing favourite.
The Princess of Wales has been sporting pieces from the affordable brand since 2018. Last week, she once again opted for this British high street label during her visit to Marina Mill. Wearing Boden’s Eva Cashmere T-shirt beneath a Bella Freud checked blazer, Kate took care to represent British fashion by seamlessly blending designer and high street fashion to achieve a stylish result.
Kate’s T-shirt, in the black colourway, is currently not available on the Boden website, but a similar charcoal shade is widely available. Other options include neutral, pink or purple – all still in stock.
The Eva Cashmere T-shirt, £109.65 with discount code MY7P, offers a modern twist on a classic shape with the added luxury of 100% pure cashmere. In the charcoal shade, it presents a timeless, neutral look that transcends seasons, reports the Mirror. The relaxed fit sits comfortably between the waist and hip, providing an effortless silhouette that’s easy to wear. Equally suited to tailored or denim outfits, it layers well and feels comfortable worn alone.
There’s also a long sleeved crew neck jumper available at the same price online, and it comes with 12 colours including black and navy. Cosy and versatile, it’s a piece that will easily integrate into the winter wardrobe and remain a staple for many seasons to come.
Though it’s discounted to £109.65, which may seem steep for a T-shirt or a jumper, pure cashmere does come with such a price tag, even if the item is from a more affordable brand. Shoppers can find a similarly priced version of Kate’s tee from The White Company for £120 in a stunning deep wine shade, or M&S offers an alpaca blend knit tee for a more budget-friendly £46 in a charcoal colourway.
The Boden Eva top has won five-star accolades from shoppers, with one commenting: “This jumper is soft and beautiful, as for the sizing, it seems to be true. It’s comfy and cosy, I’d buy it again. Well done Boden, 10/10.”
A second person echoed: “I’d rather buy a couple of pieces I love than having a lot of ‘meh’. I’m 5’1″, so very short and this simple design is perfect on my small frame and l did get it with the taffeta green skirt. They look great as a pair and I will wear this with pants as well. The sweater is soft and doesn’t need an undershirt. I’m 140 lbs and the medium works great. I hope it comes in more colours.”
But one shopper was not particularly happy about the quality of cashmere, saying: “I didn’t love the feel of the cashmere – it was fine, but not quite as soft and fluffy as I’d hoped for.”
The Eva Cashmere T-shirt is designed in a boxy fit and short length that sits above hips despite some customers said they preferred it “fitted than loose”.
A person found no issue with the Eva top as she said: “Very pleased with the sweater. Comfortable and not itchy. Size Small fits perfect for my 34 inch bust.”
The Eva Cashmere T-shirt is now available with 15% discount, shoppers can save £20 when checked out with code MY7P and get it at £109.65 instead.
