The year so far has proved to be an exceptional hit for cinema, and we still have over three months to go. With films such as Sinners, Weapons and Materialists having graced our screens, it has shown that since the Covid pandemic, the film industry has continued to thrive. However, there are plenty of cinematic offerings in the pipeline. From classic period retellings to a future-fuelled love story, here are the four upcoming films that I cannot stop thinking about.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey – September 19

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is a romantic fantasy film directed by Kogonada and written by Seth Reiss. It stars Margot Robbie, Colin Farrell, Kevin Kline, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The film’s synopsis reads: “Through a surprising twist of fate, single strangers Sarah and David get to relive important moments from their respective pasts, illuminating how they got to where they are in the present.”

Frankenstein – November 7

What we know: “Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is an upcoming Netflix film set for a limited theatrical release on October 17, 2025, with a full release on November 7, 2025. The film stars Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s Monster and Oscar Isaac as Dr. Frankenstein, with Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz also in the cast. Del Toro aims to create a “Miltonian tragedy” that captures the spirit of Mary Shelley’s novel, focusing on themes of fatherhood, the creature’s isolation, and a father-son relationship, rather than a traditional horror film.”

Die, My Love – November 14

Die, My Love is a psychological dark comedy-drama film directed by Lynne Ramsay, from a screenplay by Ramsay, Enda Walsh and Alice Birch. Based on the novel of the same name by Argentine writer Ariana Harwicz, the film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, with Lawrence also producing. The film’s synopsis reads: “In a remote forgotten rural area, a mother struggles to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis.”

Wuthering Heights – February 14 2026

What we know so far: “Emerald Fennell is directing the new adaptation of Brontë’s work starring Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. The film, produced by Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment, has begun filming in the UK and is scheduled for a February 2026 release by Warner Bros.”
